Lauren McHenry, PhD, CMPC, NCC, is a sub-contracted mental performance consultant for U.S. Figure Skating high performance. In this role, she has supported athletes across the developmental pipeline from the National Development Team to World Championship medalists and Olympic competitors. Lauren’s doctoral research on qualities of effective coach-athlete relationships have been published in the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology and informed coach education at youth, elite, and collegiate levels in soccer (United Soccer Coaches, Girls Academy, Association of German Football Coaches), basketball (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association), and U.S. Figure Skating, among dozens of clubs and programs. Lauren was a Team USA synchronized figure skater.

Caroline Silby, PH.D., CMPC, is Head of Sport Psychology and Mental Health Services for U.S. Figure Skating, 2023 USOPC Service Provider of the Year, Mental Performance Provider for the 2026, 2022, 2018 Olympic Figure Skating Teams and the 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023 World Championships Teams and inducted into Professional Skater’s Association Hall of Fame in 2025. She authored Games Girls Play: Understanding and Guiding Young Female Athletes (St. Martin’s Press 2000) and served as adjunct faculty at American University for 12 years. She has worked with 20 Olympic Gold Medalists and as an athlete, Dr. Silby was a member of the US Figure Skating Team.

She has a master’s degree in applied psychology and is currently in training to get her qualifications as a clinical psychologist while raising a family in New Zealand. Her background as an elite athlete and then a high-performance coach laid the foundation for her to want to work with athletes and coaches in the mental skills realm. She has worked with athletes across every level, from beginners to the NFL and the Olympics. Her work is collaborative; she always strives to leave a positive impact on her client’s lives and learns just as much from her clients as they learn from her.

Stanley Cheng, founder of The Rusty Archer, has over two decades of archery experience, including more than 15 years managing electronic scoring for USA Archery events such as USATs, National Championships, and U.S. Olympic Team Trials. In 2017, he created Between Ends, which has since become the official electronic scoring system of USA Archery, supporting tournament scoring, results, and event operations at the national and local levels. Additionally, Stanley has served as Head Coach of UCLA Archery since 2008 and previously spent 10 years with the Easton Foundations as League Manager for the Olympic Archery in Schools Program.

Since joining The Rusty Archer in 2020, her work has focused on on-site services, design, and understanding the needs of event coordinators and archers who use the scoring software to help make improvements for future events.

Hannah Creamer, M.S., is a coach and researcher with expertise in female athlete physiology, menstrual health, and sport performance. She earned her M.S. in Exercise & Sport Studies from Smith College, where her research examined menstrual-cycle phase, symptom burden, and maximal anaerobic performance in naturally cycling people. Her research was selected as a finalist at the New England ACSM Annual Meeting. Hannah’s work bridges research and coaching practice, with a particular interest in translating female-specific sport science into practical, evidence-informed strategies that help coaches better understand and support their athletes.

Through real-world examples and interactive exercises, attendees will view their website and social channels through the eyes of a new participant. Participants will explore the innate psychological needs that every person has, and how fulfilling those needs builds intrinsic motivation and helps us overcome the barriers that get in the way of progress. Female athletes are not simply smaller versions of male athletes, but what does that actually mean for coaches? In this session, attendees will learn how female physiology, the menstrual cycle, and menstrual symptoms can inform individualized training and athlete support. Participants will explore what current research tells us about menstrual-cycle effects on performance, why individual responses matter more than blanket phase-based prescriptions, and how coaches can build athlete competence and autonomy through better communication. Drawing on current evidence, including findings from her own research, Hannah will explore these concepts within an archery setting. Is the symposium a Virtual Tournament?

No. The symposium is an educational event with 12 sessions over six evenings. USA Archery’s Virtual Tournament program is a separate competition series. The symposium focuses on learning, while Virtual Tournaments offer competition at your local range.
